Just a quickie to tell you that my novel, The Pukur, is now available for pre-order in paperback!

I’m rather excited by this. Paperbacks are much more popular than hardbacks. They’re easier to handle and lighter to carry. No one puts a hardback in their holiday luggage; almost everyone takes a paperback or two (even if they don’t read a page while enjoying the break). Booksellers like W H Smiths make a killing at service stations and airports for exactly this reason.

So I’m hoping I’ll see a re-kindling of interest in my book, published more than two years ago, to great acclaim, after ten years of writing. I already have some book readings and signings booked but would love to do more.. If you’re in the UK and would like to have me speak at your meeting, do get in touch. If you’re outside of the UK, we can chat about doing a virtual reading session. You can private message me through any of my social media platforms (click here).

The novel is set in the UK and Bangladesh. Although it is in the Young Adults category of fiction, with its main protagonist being a bereaved and orphaned twelve-year-old girl called Sophie, the novel is really for any age, although there are some difficult themes of loss, abuse and death throughout the book. Although fiction, the book is built on my experiences of living in rural Bangladesh with my family for many years and most of the events in the book have their roots in real events there. It is a thoughtful exploration of a beautiful land and people.

Thank you to everyone who has bought a copy in the past. Complete your set with the paperback! Please don’t forget to leave an Amazon review either way though. I’m repeatedly told by those who’ve read it how much they enjoyed the story. If that’s you, please tell the world. Reviews are almost as good as buying the book in the first place.

You can buy me a coffee if you like! More accurately, you can help support my work either as a one off or monthly if you really want to show your love…

Hello, I’m Ken.

Welcome to Write Out Loud, my blog dedicated to all sorts of things to do with writing.

This page will be updated constantly every week with book reviews and writing-related stuff.

The blog is the baby sister of my personal blog kenthinksaloud where I write ‘Monday Murmurings’—insights into life and philosophy. Get a clever take on politics with ‘Wednesday Banker,’ and ‘Future Friday’ for the latest in psychology, environment, and tech.

I will use this blog to give helpful advice, tips, tricks and resources as I come across them to other writers and to advertise my own writing especially as my books start to be published.
