Shannon Thompson, barely in her twenties, puts me to shame as a writer.
While I struggle to get three books finished and ready to publish in between a busy schedule of meeting editor’s deadlines for articles, Shannon is preparing for the launch of her second book in the Timely Death trilogy despite finishing a degree in English.
What’s more, I’m breathless just watching the amount of time and effort she puts into marketing her books and keeping her many, many followers interested. I don’t know how Shannon finds the time or energy, I really don’t, and I live in awe of this talented young lady. She’s as amazing as she open and lovely in person.
The latest venture. launched today, is her Cover Reveal for Seconds Before Sunrise (SBS). I was delighted when Shannon approached me personally and asked me to get involved and said yes immediately. The idea, it seems, is that she has asked several bloggers like me to write a post today about SBS and to hide clues therein making, effectively, a massive treasure hunt for her followers as they track down all the clues.
So I’m writing this both for my own readers – some of whom I hope will want to read Shannon’s novels – and for Shannon’s readers too – some of whom I hope will like what they see and want to stay. Bad news for the Shannon’s visitors, however – you’ll have to keep reading to find your clue…
If you missed my review of the first book in the series, Minutes Before Sunset, then you can read it here. I heartily recommend it for that teenager in your life who enjoys paranormal, vampire-ish stories in the Twilight Good-versus-Evil mode. What’s great about Shannon’s first book is that I would be happy to let any young person read it whereas I find the dubious morality of some the Vampire Diaries type of books a little too much for my taste. I was more than happy to suggest the book to my thirteen-year-old daughter who is now busy reading the book for herself around school exams.
So, onto the second book, Seconds Before Sunrise. I recommend you click here for the Goodreads link and sign up for a preview of the book when it comes out in march. For those of you who’ve read the first book, here is a brief synopsis of the second. Skip this section if you’ve not read the first book – it contains spoilers!
“Two nightmares. One memory.
“Chaos within destiny. It was the definition of our love.”
Eric has weeks before his final battle when he’s in an accident. Forced to face his human side, he knows he can’t survive if he fights alone. But he doesn’t want to surrender, even if he becomes the sacrifice for war.
Jessica’s memory isn’t the only thing she’s lost. Her desire to find her parents is gone and so is her confidence. But when fate leaves nightmares behind, she decides to find the boy she sees in them, even if it risks her sanity.”
Okay, you can look again now!
So it comes to the end of my little part in this treasure hunt – go visit Shannon’s blog if you want to take part in it yourself. Contained within this paragraph is the clue for her fans, which I’ve deliberately left in normal, non-bold font so you couldn’t cheat and scroll down the text quickly to find it! ‘Fact #22 Eric actually loves reading and learning. He just hates school—as well as any other kind of institution. It reminds him of the structured Dark’. I hope you got that? Good luck with the rest of your hunt!
It just remains for me to wish Shannon the very best with her next installment. I’m looking forward to reading it when it publishes in March and I’m sure it will do well. Good luck Shannon!
